Saskatchewan Health Professionals

The Saskatchewan Health Professionals stream is part of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) administered by the government of Saskatchewan. The program is specifically designed for health professionals such as physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who are currently employed in Saskatchewan and have a job offer to continue their work in the healthcare field. Upon successful nomination through the Saskatchewan Health Professionals stream, applicants will receive an invitation to submit an application for Canadian permanent residency. It is important to note that the program requirements vary depending on the applicant’s occupation and job offer.

Physician Eligibility for the Saskatchewan Health Professionals Stream

  • The Saskatchewan Health Professionals stream accepts applications from licensed physicians who are already practicing medicine in Saskatchewan and have a full-time job offer from a provincial health authority.
  • To be eligible, a candidate must have been working for a provincial health authority for at least 6 months prior to the application, with a job offer for a full-time position in National Occupational Classification (NOC) Code 3111 or 3112.
  • A valid offer of employment must be supported by a Letter of Offer from the employer and a Job Approval Letter from SINP.
  • Candidates must hold a proper medical license equivalent to a Canadian medical degree, obtained from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CoPSS).
  • The candidate must have at least 6 months of full-time work experience in their field with a provincial health authority in Saskatchewan, aligned with NOC Code 3111 or 3112.

Nursing Eligibility for the Saskatchewan Health Professionals Stream

The Nursing Substream is designed for licensed and registered nurses who are currently employed in the province of Saskatchewan and who have received a full-time job offer to continue working with a provincial health authority. To be eligible for the Saskatchewan Health Professionals stream under the nursing category, candidates must meet the following program requirements.

  • Language Proficiency: No minimum level specified
  • Level of Education: A valid nursing license
  • Work Experience: Six (6) months of full-time experience working for a provincial health authority in Saskatchewan, corresponding to a NOC code for licensed or registered nurses.
  • Investment Requirement: Not specified
  1. Job Offer:

To be considered valid, a job offer must be accompanied by a Letter of Offer from the employer and a Job Approval Letter from the SINP. The employer must register online via the SINP Online Portal and submit the position for assessment by the SINP. If the position is approved, the employer will receive an official Job Approval Letter.

  1. Level of Education:

Candidates must possess a valid nursing license that is equivalent to a Canadian nursing degree and must demonstrate proper licensing from one of the following associations: Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses (SALPN), Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS), or the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association (SRNA).

  1. Work Experience:

Candidates must have at least six (6) months of full-time experience working for a provincial health authority in Saskatchewan, corresponding to a NOC code for licensed or registered nurses.

Other Health Professionals Eligibility for the Saskatchewan Health Professionals Stream

  • Express Entry Profile: Not Required
  • Connection to Province: Work Experience
  • Job Offer: Required
  • Language Proficiency: Not required for NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B. Required at CLB Level 4 for NOC Skill Level C
  • Level of Education: Post-secondary education or job-specific training for a minimum of one year
  • Work Experience: At least six months of full-time work experience in a healthcare occupation with a provincial health authority in Saskatchewan
  • Investment Requirement: Not Required
  1. Connection to Saskatchewan

To be eligible for the Saskatchewan Health Professionals Stream as an other health professional, a candidate must:

  • Already be working in a healthcare occupation in Saskatchewan with a valid work permit
  • Have been employed with a provincial health authority for at least the 6 months prior to the application
  • Have a full-time job offer from the same employer in a healthcare occupation at NOC Skill Level 0, A, B, or C
  1. Job Offer

A valid job offer must be supported by a Letter of Offer from the employer and a Job Approval Letter from SINP. The employer must register on the SINP Online Portal to obtain a Job Approval Letter. The position must be assessed by SINP and if approved, the employer will receive an official Job Approval Letter.

  1. Language Proficiency

If the job offer is for a position at NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B, no language proficiency is required. However, if the offer is for a position at NOC Skill Level C, the candidate must have language test scores demonstrating proficiency at CLB Level 4 or higher.

  1. Education Requirements

Candidates must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education or job-specific training. If their profession requires licensing or certification, they must show proof of eligibility for such licensing or certification.

  1. Work Experience

The candidate must have at least six months of full-time work experience with a provincial health authority in Saskatchewan in a healthcare occupation.

Saskatchewan Health Professionals Stream Process

The Saskatchewan Health Professionals stream is open to eligible candidates at all times, and they can apply through the SINP Online Portal. There is no application fee associated with this program. Upon approval of the application, Saskatchewan will notify the candidate of their selection for provincial nomination through email.

Upon receiving a provincial nomination, the candidate has a period of six months to submit their permanent residency application. The permanent residency application must be completed on paper and submitted by mail to the relevant application center. The processing time for paper-based permanent residency applications under the PNP program is typically within 18 months.
