Ontario Skilled Trades is a stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) which operates as a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) under the jurisdiction of the province of Ontario. This stream is designed to issue provincial nominations to skilled tradespeople who possess an active Express Entry profile and have demonstrated Ontario work experience in a relevant skilled trade.
The eligibility criteria for the Ontario Skilled Trades stream require candidates to have an active profile in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) under Express Entry. This stream operates on an invitation-only basis and foreign nationals cannot apply directly to the program.
All Express Entry candidates are automatically considered for the Ontario Skilled Trades stream. The province of Ontario will issue a Notification of Interest (NOI) to those candidates it has determined to be suitable for the program. Receiving an NOI from Ontario serves as an invitation to apply for provincial nomination and, if successful, for Canadian permanent residency.
